Oliver Solberg beat Sébastien Ogier by 16.6 seconds at Rally Chile, completing a Toyota one-two that secured the 2026 WRC manufacturers’ title.
Solberg controls Rally Chile
Oliver Solberg won the 2026 Rally Chile Biobío on Sunday, September 13, leading a Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT one-two in the 12th round of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Solberg and co-driver Elliott Edmondson finished the Concepción event in 2h57m08.2s. Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais followed 16.6 seconds behind, with Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT’s Adrien Fourmaux and Alexandre Coria third, 33.3 seconds off the lead.
The result was Solberg’s third WRC victory and his second of the 2026 season, following his Monte Carlo Rally win.
Friday pace lays the groundwork
Solberg took command during Friday’s muddy opening leg, ending the day in 52m42.1s with a 10.1-second lead over Toyota teammate Elfyn Evans.
Fourmaux held third, 18.0 seconds behind Solberg. Ogier was another 1.7 seconds back after making up ground in the afternoon.
Solberg led all but one stage during the rally.
María Las Cruces decides the contest
Saturday’s final test, the 28.31-kilometer María Las Cruces stage, gave Solberg the gap he needed. He beat Evans by 3.7 seconds and Ogier by 4.7 seconds, stretching his overnight advantage to 19.1 seconds.
Ogier began Saturday in fourth, then passed Fourmaux and finished the leg just 1.3 seconds behind Evans. Fourmaux lost time after choosing a three-soft-tire strategy for María Las Cruces and fell 10.7 seconds behind Ogier.
Toyota filled the top three overnight, with Solberg ahead of Evans and Ogier.
Ogier claims second on Sunday
Solberg protected his lead through Sunday’s four stages, then sealed the victory by setting the fastest Power Stage time and beating Evans by 0.5 seconds in the finale.
Ogier secured second as the order shifted behind the winner. Fourmaux reclaimed a podium place and finished 16.7 seconds behind Ogier, while Evans completed the rally in fifth.
No time penalties changed the podium order.
Toyota clinches manufacturers’ crown
The Solberg and Ogier one-two delivered Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT’s sixth consecutive manufacturers’ championship. It was Toyota’s 10th WRC manufacturers’ title, matching the series record.
Solberg’s victory also tightened the drivers’ championship after pre-rally leader Evans finished fifth. Ogier collected Sunday points alongside his runner-up finish, but confirmed post-event points totals were not provided.
The title fight moves on from Chile with Solberg, Ogier and Evans still in contention across the closing rounds of the 2026 season.
