WRC’s 2026 scoring system puts 50 points in play each weekend, with overall, Sunday and Wolf Power Stage results shaping the title fight.
The 2026 World Rally Championship title race can shift by 50 points in one weekend, keeping every Sunday dangerous as the season continues beyond Rally Finland.
Three scores shape every rally
WRC points come from three separate classifications. Victory in the rally is worth 25, first place in the Sunday classification pays five, and the Wolf Power Stage carries another five.
One driver can score a maximum of 35 points, while a rival can leave with none.
The Sunday threat is real
The top five drivers in the Sunday classification receive 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points. The same scale is used for the Wolf Power Stage, setting up a 10-point bonus fight after the main rally order has largely formed.
A championship contender protecting second overall, worth 17 points, still has plenty at risk if a rival pushes harder on the final day. The gap between a perfect 35-point weekend and second overall without Sunday points is 18.
Consistency still pays heavily
The overall points scale is 25, 17, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1. Its biggest step is the eight-point difference between first and second.
Wins carry a major reward, while the Sunday system gives crews a chance to recover after their overall result has been damaged. A driver outside the top 10 can still earn up to 10 points from Sunday and the Power Stage.
Ogier adds pressure to the run-in
Sébastien Ogier has committed to every remaining 2026 round in his pursuit of a 10th WRC title. His rivals can no longer expect a part-time schedule to reduce that pressure.
Ogier’s crash at Rally Finland damaged his championship campaign, while Sami Pajari won his home event and moved into second in the standings. It was Pajari’s second consecutive victory, adding another full-time threat to the title fight.
Every split now matters
The championship calculation reaches beyond the rally winner. Gaining or losing one position on Sunday can change the Sunday score and road position for the Power Stage, while one mistake can wipe out points from two classifications within minutes.
The crews will again fight for 25 overall points at the next rally, before resetting for the five-point Sunday victory and another five on the Wolf Power Stage.
