Marco Bezzecchi controlled MotoGP’s return to Brazil, beating Jorge Martin as Aprilia Racing claimed the first Grand Prix one-two in its history.
Bezzecchi takes control in Goiania
Marco Bezzecchi turned a perfect launch into a commanding victory at the 2026 Grand Prix of Brazil, leading teammate Jorge Martin across the line for a landmark Aprilia Racing one-two at the Autodromo Internacional Ayrton Senna.
Bezzecchi grabbed the holeshot and led every lap of the 23-lap race. After struggling to make the same impact in Saturday’s Sprint, he delivered an emphatic response on Sunday. His winning time was 30 minutes 19.760 seconds, with an average speed of 174.4km/h.
Martin finished 3.231 seconds behind. Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the podium for Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, 3.780 seconds behind Bezzecchi and only 0.549 seconds adrift of Martin.
It was Bezzecchi’s fourth consecutive Grand Prix victory and the eighth of his MotoGP career. The result also gave Aprilia its first premier-class Grand Prix one-two as MotoGP returned to Brazil.
Early speed creates the winning margin
Di Giannantonio started from pole, but Bezzecchi beat him into the opening corner. Marc Marquez held third for Ducati Lenovo Team, followed by Martin in fourth. Pedro Acosta made the biggest early move, charging from ninth to fifth.
Marquez passed Di Giannantonio for second on lap two. Acosta soon found a way past Martin, but neither change troubled the leader. Bezzecchi had clear track and quickly began stretching his advantage while the order shifted behind him.
The podium fight changed on lap six. Di Giannantonio attacked Marquez on the inside, and both riders ran wide. Martin immediately swept past them into second, around two seconds behind Bezzecchi, to put Aprilia in control of the top two places.
Martin cut several tenths from the gap, then settled into a secure second. Bezzecchi stayed composed, controlled his margin and completed the job after doing his strongest work in the opening phase.
Di Giannantonio wins the podium rematch
With the Aprilias clear at the front, Di Giannantonio and Marquez resumed their battle. It was a repeat of the previous day’s Sprint contest, and once again the outcome stayed open until the closing laps.
Marquez reclaimed third with a forceful but clean pass at Turn 6 with five laps remaining. Di Giannantonio stayed close. One lap later, Marquez ran deep exiting Turn 11, and the VR46 rider used the opening to regain a podium position.
There was no second response from Marquez. Di Giannantonio finished only 0.309 seconds ahead of the Ducati factory rider, taking 16 points for third while Marquez scored 13 in fourth.
Di Giannantonio had lost ground in the lap-six exchange, but he recovered, handled Marquez’s late attack and made the decisive pass when the chance arrived.
Ogura climbs as the midfield order changes
The positions behind the leading four changed throughout the race. Alex Marquez initially passed Acosta for fifth, before Ai Ogura joined the group by halfway and eventually came out on top.
Ogura placed fifth for Trackhouse MotoGP Team, 8.403 seconds behind Bezzecchi. Alex Marquez finished sixth for BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP, with Acosta seventh after his rapid start. Fermin Aldeguer took eighth, Johann Zarco was ninth and Raul Fernandez completed the top 10.
Luca Marini claimed the remaining points in 11th, followed by Franco Morbidelli in 12th, Diogo Moreira in 13th, Alex Rins in 14th and Enea Bastianini in 15th. Fabio Quartararo was the first rider outside the points, finishing 16th.
Aprilia machinery filled first, second, fifth and 10th through Bezzecchi, Martin, Ogura and Fernandez. The results showed the package worked across several riders in Goiania, alongside the factory team’s one-two.
Aprilia makes history in Brazil
The Brazilian weekend delivered a landmark result for Aprilia Racing. Bezzecchi’s pace put the team in control from the first corner. Martin’s quick reaction to the clash between Di Giannantonio and Marquez then turned a fourth-place run into a comfortable second.
Bezzecchi collected the maximum 25 Grand Prix points, while Martin earned 20. No championship totals were supplied in the confirmed results, but Aprilia’s factory pairing secured the strongest possible Sunday return.
The teammates reached the top two by different routes. Bezzecchi relied on his start, early pace and control of the gap. Martin worked through traffic, lost ground to Acosta, then capitalized on the lap-six incident ahead. Their combined effort gave Aprilia a result it had never achieved before.
Next stop: Circuit of the Americas
MotoGP heads straight to the Grand Prix of the Americas, scheduled for March 27-29 at the Circuit of the Americas. Bezzecchi will reach Texas with four consecutive Grand Prix victories and one of Aprilia’s most significant premier-class results behind him.
Marquez and Di Giannantonio were close enough to fight hard for third in Brazil, but neither threatened the Aprilias after Martin moved into second. Bezzecchi led from the start in Goiania, and Aprilia completed its first premier-class Grand Prix one-two.
