Project Rally One has unveiled its WRC27 challenger for the first time, with Monte Carlo targeted for its planned 2027 World Rally Championship debut.
Project Rally One publicly unveiled its new WRC27 car on Friday as it continued preparations for a planned 2027 entry into the FIA World Rally Championship. The program is aiming for a competitive debut in Monte Carlo, giving the championship's next technical era a confirmed new arrival.
The reveal is the project's latest confirmed step after testing started earlier in September. It also brings the WRC27 program out of development running and into public view, with the car presented as the machine intended to carry Project Rally One onto the world championship stage.
A WRC27 project comes into view
The car has been developed for the regulations taking effect in 2027. Its public unveiling confirms Project Rally One is progressing toward a championship entry, though no driver lineup accompanied the reveal.
Monte Carlo is the stated target.
That gives the program a defined opening assignment instead of a broad seasonal objective. The Monte Carlo event traditionally features changing grip and weather on mountain roads, putting an immediate deadline on the remaining development work.
The reveal comes after testing began earlier in September. The public presentation is separate from competitive approval, and the confirmed ambition is still a planned WRC debut in 2027, rather than an entry in the closing round of the 2026 season.
The timing connects two WRC eras
Project Rally One displayed its challenger as the current championship prepared for its final round. Rally Italia Sardegna will conclude the 2026 season from October 1 through October 4 after Rally Saudi Arabia was canceled.
The finale opens with shakedown at 09:01 on October 1. Day 1 gets underway at 16:05, with starts at 08:01 on October 2 and October 3. The final day begins at 08:31 on October 4.
Those dates place Project Rally One's reveal between the end of the current manufacturers' contest and the start of the next rules cycle. Toyota GAZOO Racing clinched its sixth consecutive manufacturers' championship at Rally Chile BIOBÍO, matching Lancia with a record-equalling 10 titles.
No driver announcement yet
The first public appearance focused on the WRC27 car and its planned debut. Friday's announcement didn't identify who will drive it in competition, leaving the crew lineup unconfirmed.
That distinction is important in the early phase of the 2027 market. The physical challenger and Monte Carlo target are confirmed. Any names connected to its seats weren't included in the announcement and aren't established as part of the program.
The available details also don't confirm a full 2027 competition schedule. The project's stated objective is a WRC debut, with Monte Carlo named as its opening target.
WRC secures expanded coverage for 2027
The unveiling coincided with another confirmed development for the championship's next era. The BBC has secured a three-year agreement to show live coverage of every WRC round from 2027 through 2029.
The deal covers the same season in which Project Rally One intends to enter the championship. Starting with the introduction of the WRC27 regulations, it guarantees live coverage of the entire calendar for three years instead of selected events.
Project Rally One's planned Monte Carlo launch would therefore take place during the agreement's first season.
Sardinia comes first
The championship's immediate attention remains on the 2026 finale. Elfyn Evans will carry a 17-point lead into Rally Italia Sardegna after a puncture cut his advantage at Rally Chile BIOBÍO, where Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson won and scored 25 points.
Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais earned 17 points in Chile, while Adrien Fourmaux and Alexandre Coria collected 15. Evans has summed up the shortened title run-in plainly.

Project Rally One will continue working toward its 2027 target as the current field prepares for Sardinia, beginning with shakedown at 09:01 on October 1.
