Bryce Menzies brings four event victories into a 423.16-mile Baja 400 that also offers eligible UTV racers up to $75,000.
Bryce Menzies enters the 7th SCORE Baja 400 aiming to extend his event record to five overall victories. Race week began Wednesday, September 9, in Ensenada, where Menzies will race the No. 7 Menzies Motorsports Ford Raptor Mason AWD Trophy Truck.
Menzies tops the Baja 400 record book
Menzies has claimed four wins across the first six editions of the Baja 400, making him the event’s most successful driver. His latest bid comes during Round 3 of the four-race 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship.
Approximately 140 teams representing 11 countries and 22 U. S. states are entered. Terrible Herbst Motorsports tested three race trucks in the buildup, bringing additional depth to the field, although the latest race information did not include a final starting list.
A 423.16-mile clockwise test
The professional course spans 423.16 miles, while Sportsman competitors will cover 397.29 miles. Running clockwise from Ensenada, the route passes through Ojos Negros, Valle de la Trinidad, Mike’s Sky Ranch, Colonia Vicente Guerrero, Ejido Eréndira and Santo Tomás.
A physical checkpoint sits at Peña Colorada near race mile 216.63.
The start and finish are located on Bulevar Costero, and Arroyo Ensenada forms part of the opening section. Qualifying starts Thursday, September 10, at 8 a. m. PT on a private course that is closed to spectators.
UTV racers pursue $75,000
Two separate contingency offers give an eligible UTV racer the chance to earn up to a combined $75,000 by meeting every requirement.
The Polaris SCORE Challenge will pay $50,000 to an eligible competitor who wins the Overall UTV classification and finishes ahead of every factory Polaris RZR entry. Both requirements apply. Winning a class alone is not enough.
MRT Tires has offered another $25,000 to the Overall UTV winner, provided the victorious vehicle uses MRT tires. An eligible non-Polaris entry running MRT tires can therefore secure both awards by winning overall in UTV and beating every factory Polaris RZR competitor.
Race-day schedule confirmed
Tech and contingency fill Bulevar Costero on Friday, September 11. Racing starts Saturday, September 12, with motorcycles due to leave at 5 a. m. PT. Cars and trucks get underway at 10 a. m. PT.
The Baja 400 is the penultimate round of the 2026 championship. Next comes the BFGoodrich Tires 59th SCORE Baja 1000, scheduled for November 9 through 15 and based in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur.
First, Menzies and the rest of the Baja 400 field head into Thursday morning qualifying, followed by Friday’s technical inspection on Bulevar Costero.
