Alex Palou claimed his sixth victory of 2026 at Portland, beating Felix Rosenqvist and Will Power in round 13 of the IndyCar season.

Palou claims another victory

Alex Palou won the 2026 Grand Prix of Portland for Chip Ganassi Racing, extending his commanding IndyCar campaign with a round 13 victory at Portland International Raceway.

Felix Rosenqvist took second for Meyer Shank with Curb-Agajanian, with Will Power third for Andretti Global. The confirmed finishing order put three teams on the podium.

Portland lifts Palou's win total

The victory was Palou's sixth of the season.

Before winning at Portland on August 9, he had already taken victories at St. Petersburg, Barber Motorsports Park, Long Beach, Detroit and Nashville. The result made him the first driver to record six wins during the 2026 campaign.

The available race information did not specify the decisive pass, pit sequence or any incidents. The final classification, however, confirmed Palou ahead of Rosenqvist and Power after the strategy unfolded.

Rosenqvist and Power reach the podium

Rosenqvist's second-place finish came after his Indianapolis 500 victory on May 24. He later ended the season ninth in the final standings with 379 points, one win and four top-five results across 17 starts.

Power secured third place for Andretti Global. His Portland result counted toward five top-five finishes in 2026, and he later completed the year 11th in the championship with 351 points.

Championship lead grows

Palou's Portland victory strengthened the advantage he held through the closing stretch. He went on to score 607 points across 17 starts, ending the season 100 clear of Christian Lundgaard and 102 ahead of Kyle Kirkwood.

His season totals featured six victories, eight poles and 673 laps led. The Spaniard eventually clinched his fifth IndyCar championship at the Milwaukee doubleheader, securing his fourth consecutive crown and fifth in six years.

Markham is next

Following Portland, the series headed to the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham on August 16. Marcus Ericsson won the street race before the schedule moved on to Washington, D. C., and the Milwaukee doubleheader.
