Lando Norris secured consecutive Formula 1 wins at Zandvoort, with Mercedes drivers Andrea Kimi Antonelli and George Russell completing the podium.

Norris doubles up at Zandvoort

Lando Norris won the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix for McLaren, finishing ahead of Mercedes drivers Andrea Kimi Antonelli and George Russell after 72 laps at Circuit Zandvoort.

Norris crossed the line 11.536 seconds clear of Antonelli. Russell finished another 4.370 seconds behind his teammate, while the winner recorded an official race time of 2:04:44.859.

Verstappen crash changes the race

Max Verstappen crashed early in his home Grand Prix, removing a leading contender and allowing Norris to turn pole position into victory.

Mercedes later had to decide the order of its podium finishers. Russell received instructions to let Antonelli pass, putting the championship leader second and Russell third. At the finish, 4.370 seconds separated the two Mercedes cars.

McLaren converts its opportunity

Norris took charge during the decisive phase, holding Antonelli outside striking distance. The win gave McLaren consecutive Grand Prix victories following the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 26.

It was also Norris’ second straight win. At the Hungaroring, he beat Verstappen by 15.080 seconds after 70 laps, compared with his 11.536-second winning margin at Zandvoort.

Mercedes banks another double podium

Antonelli added a runner-up finish to a prolific season that already featured six wins, secured in China, Japan, Miami, Canada, Monaco and Belgium.

Russell collected his seventh podium of the year. His earlier results included victories in Australia and Austria, plus second-place finishes in China, Barcelona, Britain and Belgium.

Title fight tightens before Monza

Norris boosted his championship bid with victory at Zandvoort, while Antonelli reduced the damage by taking second. Verstappen scored no points following his retirement, having reached the podium in Canada, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.

Formula 1 travels next to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix from September 4 to 6. Antonelli will arrive with a grid penalty connected to an engine change, and Russell may also receive a grid penalty.
